Jacques and Bev - A fresh start that became something real

Jacques (52) met Bev (55) just a few months after joining the platform. Their first meeting felt so natural that both of them noticed an instant spark. Even so, things didn’t go perfectly at first - until a little persistence and a second chance brought them back together.

Jacques still remembers their first date vividly. They met at a restaurant and clicked right away. Talking to Bev felt effortless from the beginning, and when the venue closed, she suggested they continue the night with another drink. For Jacques, that was the moment it became clear - there was something special here. But the evening ended with an awkward goodbye that almost derailed everything. Bev leaned in for a kiss, and Jacques accidentally turned his head away. “Classic rookie mistake,” he says. “We still laugh about it now.”

A small misstep became something bigger

Their second date went in a very different direction. Jacques asked Bev to come with him to a club where a friend was DJing. It wasn’t really her scene, but she went anyway. After the set, they left early and spent the rest of the evening talking. There was no romance that night, and Bev even questioned whether they were truly a match. Jacques, however, wasn’t prepared to give up. “She’s an amazing woman,” he said. “I wasn’t going to stop there.” His openness made all the difference, and before long, everything began to fall into place.

A connection that grew stronger

What started with a few messages on the platform quickly grew into something neither of them expected. One chat led to another, and soon they were spending hours talking about everything and nothing at all. Six months later, they’re still together, happier than ever, and still laughing about that first kiss.

His tip for new members

“Keep an open mind and just be yourself,” Jacques says. Things may not go exactly as planned at first - but if it feels right, it’s worth giving it another go.

Love doesn’t always happen perfectly the first time around. For Jacques and Bev, it took one more chance to discover what they nearly missed. Now they’re grateful they both chose to try again - and even more grateful for where that choice took them.
